My daughter is 15 years old. She has the bone age of a 13 year old. She has not hit puberty yet. She has had knee pain for over 3 years. She was diagnosed with osteochondritis dessican about a year and a half ago. We have tried no activity and limited activity. She has been involved with physical therapy for about a year. She is in a great deal of pain. I am seeking something that will help her. I would rather not have to turn to surgery. I am hoping this PRP procedure might be an option for her. If you could help me find someone relatively close to us and is a reputable doctor. I would appreciate any information you can provide. | |
There have not been any studies to show effectiveness of treatment with PRP for osteochondritis dessicans. The grade of the OCD lesions is important to know as well. With higher grade lesions surgery might be your only option. With lower grade lesions you can usually avoid surgery. |
