St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright decided to utilize Platelet rich injection therapy in his right elbow. Wainwright has had a few rough pitching starts in a row and unfortunately has also not hit 90 mph on the radar gun in his last few starts.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals the timing couldn’t be worse as they are right in the hunt in the Central Division right on the heals of the Chicago Cubs. It is said that Wainwright will most likely miss a minimum of 2 weeks.
We don’t exactly know the extent of the Wainwright injury, but the following article explains an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament and how prp can help heal this type of injury.
