Is it worth trying PRP for torn posterior horn, meniscus both medial and lateral torn? I have been told by orthopedist to have surgery. I am not wanting to have surgery but the knee is painful and I am unable to exercise. Barely even walking. I can walk but not for exercise. I was also told to have surgery or the knee won’t be able to be fixed without replacement. Please advise I live in New England. | |
Although there may be some case reports of patients being treated with PRP for meniscal tears, there has not been a study to show that PRP can heal meniscal tears. That doesn’t mean that it may not help. You may in fact get symptom improvement from PRP treatment. However there is as of yet no evidence that it will heal the tear. |
